A few days back I was writing an article on Amazing Temples of Hinduism Situated outside India. To get additional information I started reading an article on Quora which stated “What is the Greatest Thing about Being Hindu” written by Jayesh Deore. The article was beautifully written and in few bulleted points, he explained the greatness of Hinduism. I am sharing the same article written by him (with additional modification). I hope this article will be loved by all the readers and it will help them to understand their religion.

- Do you want to worship God by the name you love? Welcome to Hinduism.
- Do you want to criticize your religion? Welcome to Hinduism. Come forward with logical facts and you will still be Hindu. “Shastrartha” or debate is an important aspect of Hinduism.
- Don’t you like some traditions being followed in your religion? Welcome to Hinduism. Come forward and speak against it. There is no concept of blasphemy and apostasy in Hinduism.
- Have you screwed your entire life? No problem Hinduism believes in multiple lives. You will get another life to correct your deeds.
- Are you humor loving person? Welcome to Hinduism. You can crack jokes in the most acute manner possible.
- Do you want to accept as it is? Welcome to Hinduism. Please go ahead with it.
- Do you want to start your journey by reading The Vedas? Go ahead
- Do you want to start your journey by reading Upanishads? Go ahead.
- Do you want to start your journey by reading Purans? Go ahead.
- Do you want to start your journey by reading Bhagwad Geeta? Go ahead
- You don’t like reading the ancient scriptures? No problem. Follow the Bhakti tradition of Hinduism.
- You don’t want to read scriptures nor want to do Bhakti? No problem follow mediation or hath yoga.
- You don’t like any of the above? No problem. Do your Karma. Karma says “what goes around, comes around”.
- You don’t believe in Gods but in Humanity? Welcome to Hinduism as it teaches “Service to mankind is service to God”.
- Do you want to enjoy life? Go ahead. There is no problem in Hinduism. Charvaka Philosophy of Hinduism is there for you which states “eat, drink, and be merry“.
- Do you want to relate your religion to Science? Bingo, read Nasadiya Sukta of Rig Veda.
Rig Veda is the oldest Veda. It is a collection of 1,028 hymns and 10,600 verses, organized into ten books (Mandalas)
- You want to abstain from all the enjoyment of life & find god? Welcome to Hinduism. You can be a Sadhu (Sage).
- You don’t like the concept of God. You believe in Nature only? Again welcome to Hinduism. Hinduism is a religion with Eco-Friendly and Eco Balance roots. Even trees and Animals are worshipped in Hinduism. Example: Hanuman, Ganesh, and Tusli.

- You believe in one god or supreme energy? Superb, Advaita Vedanta Philosophy of Hinduism states after liberation from the cycle of birth and Death i.e. Moksha. Atman becomes the part of Brahman and both can’t be differentiated. Example: A drop of water in Sea.
- You believe in one god or supreme energy but don’t follow the Advaita Philosophy. No problem there is Dvaita Vedanta Philosophy. It states after Moksha Atman become the part of Brahman and both retain their identity. Example: A parrot sitting on the tree.
- You want a Guru to practice Hinduism? Go ahead.
- You don’t want a Guru to practice Hinduism? Go ahead.
- You don’t believe in Gods? No problem, Hinduism is the only religion where there is Goddess. Hinduism reveres Shakti (The ultimate source of energy in the universe or the “The Great Divine Mother”) through its personification in a Goddess.
- You believe every human is same? You don’t want to discriminate on the basis of nation, religion, color, sex. Great, you just followed the basic principle of Hinduism i.e. “Vasudhaiva kutumbakam” (the world is a family).
- You are happy go, Lucky person, don’t like sadness? Great, Hinduism has no concept of mourning or no sad festivals.
- You don’t like bloodshed? Welcome to Hinduism. Hinduism has so many different theories and beliefs. It has four different sects but none of them ever fight with each other (unlike Shia-Sunni &Catholic-Protestants).
- You don’t have anything to do. Don’t worry. One more festival is coming.
- You are a working person. You don’t have time for religion. No problem, you are still Hindu. According to Hinduism do you’re Karma and there is no need of worshipping of Gods.
- You like to go to temples? Great there are more than 1 million temples worldwide.
- You don’t like to go to temples? No problem, you are still a Hindu if you don’t visit the temple.
- You can’t pray at any specific time of day or any specific day in the week? Welcome to Hinduism.
- Your religion allows worship of your mother, father, guru, tree, River, every living creature, Earth, and Universe. Great because your religion believes that everything has god in them.
- And if you don’t believe that everything has god in them, No problems. Respect your viewpoint as well as theirs.
- You can visit the religious shrines of other religion and even pray there. It’s not haram in your religion because you are Hindu.
- You would be proud to hear that your religion is not only a religion but a way of life.
- Your religion teaches the best hymns ever composed in this world. Om Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah, Sarve Santu Nir-Aamayaah. Sarve Bhadraanni Pashyantu, Maa Kashcid-Duhkha-Bhaag-Bhavet. Meaning (May All become Happy, May all be Free from Illness. May All See what is Auspicious, May no one Suffer. Om Peace, Peace, Peace).

Hinduism has been always open-minded and tolerant to all with belief that truth is one, paths are many. You’re free to choose my dear Hindus and Hinduism has survived so many invasions and conversions because it is a dynamic religion which gives complete freedom to its followers.
